Palm Weevil Treatment

About the Palmetto Weevil Threat
The palmetto weevil is a native insect that targets stressed or wounded palm trees, especially Canary Island date palms, Bismarck palms, and even cabbage palms. These beetles are most active in late spring and early summer.Adult females lay eggs in the crown of the palm, and their larvae tunnel downward into the heart, disrupting nutrient flow and causing sudden decline or death.
Visible signs are rare until it’s too late, often when the crown collapses or fronds begin to droop. If you’ve recently transplanted a palm or notice signs of stress, your tree may be at risk.
Preventive Palmetto Weevil Control That Works
The best way to protect palms from weevil damage is through prevention. At Four Seasons Lawn Care, we apply protective trunk sprays and systemic insecticides designed to stop egg-laying and kill emerging larvae before they can cause damage.
We recommend treatment before the active season begins, especially for high-value or recently transplanted palms. With early intervention, even at-risk trees can be spared from infestation. Our treatments last through the peak season and are reapplied annually for ongoing protection.
